The troubled 37-year-old songstress was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound on her porch yesterday, leaving behind two sons.
LeAnn Rimes took to her Twitter page to pay tribute, posting, “My heart goes out to Mindy McCready's family. I knew her well. It's a horrible tragedy. May peace be with her sons.”
Adding to the touching messages, Carrie Underwood wrote, “I grew up listening to Mindy McCready...so sad for her family tonight. Many prayers are going out to them...”
Meanwhile, Wynona Judd really opened up on her Twitter account, stating, “Oh my! Mindy. Dear sweet girl. This is so sad. It just breaks my heart what addiction continues to take from this life. Addiction is a dis EASE & not a character flaw. When the pain becomes too much, it causes people to want that pain to stop. This is just so unbelievable & so sad. God be with the family & those babies. Surround them with your grace & mercy...”
She continued, “People who don't understand addiction can easily judge. I myself am a recovery story. I don't for 1 minute consider myself weak in character. I am addicted to the word ‘More.’ It has almost killed me. Tonight I sang with such a heavy heart for Mindy & for those who still struggle with this dis EASE. I will always be reminded of how what happened to Mindy could have easily happened to me. I thank ALL.”
