It’s awards season all around. Those in the movie industry have been announcing the best and greatest of 2012, and those in the music biz are gearing up to do the same. The Grammys will air next month, and it has been revealed that Taylor Swift, Rihanna and The Black Keys are among those who will perform during the telecast.
Mumford & Sons and Fun. were also named as performers during Wednesday’s announcement. All of these performers cater to different audiences, but they bare one thing in common – they’re all up for numerous awards. The Black Keys, Mumford & Sons, and Fun. are all up for the top prize – album of the year.
Rihanna is also nominated for best pop solo performance. She’s competing against Kelly Clarkson, Adele, Katy Perry and newbie Carly Rae Jepsen. The racy singer’s last album Talk Talk was completely overlooked by the Academy, and her most recent album, Unapologetic, was released after the Sep. 30 deadline for albums.
Taylor Swift had a great year, and not just because she was dating one of the Kennedys and later, that kid from One Direction. No. Her Red was the No. 2-selling album of 2012. Unfortunely, because it was released after the Grammy deadline, she won’t be winning any awards for it this year. Her “We Are Never Getting Back Together” however, is up for record of the year.
LL Cool J is returning as host this year. The Grammys will air February 10 on CBS at 8 p.m.
Will you tune in to watch The Grammys this year? Who are you most excited to watch perform?
