The Foo Fighters hiatus may be over before Taylor Swift starts dating Michael J. Fox’s son. Dave Grohl, who’s currently at Sundance promoting his documentary Sound City, told a major music site that the Foo Fighters ‘have really awesome, big plans’ for the next record.

Speaking to MTV News, Grohl mentioned that he has the music ready for the follow-up to 2011′s Wasting Light.

“We have a plan, we know exactly what’s coming next, and I have the music for the next record and we’re going to start working on it once we finish doing all this stuff.”

Even though the Foo Fighters decided to take a break last October, members of the band still showed up to support Grohl’s film at Sundance. They also took the opportunity to jam together, along with legends like Stevie Nicks, John Fogerty and Rick Nielsen

“It’s funny, we don’t really consider this the Foo Fighters … we’re Rick Springfield’s backing band, we’re john Fogerty’s backing band. We’re not up there playing ‘Everlong’ every night, we’re just hoping our heroes get up on stage and play,” Grohl said.

The frontman also expressed that he was really excited about the band’s forthcoming record, but refused to give a hint as to when that music will be released. He knows that if he gives a release date now, people will hold him to it.

“If I give you something now, it means I’ll actually have to make that deadline.”

There might be no official date for the new record, but at least we know music is coming sometime in the near future.

Are you excited for a new Foo Fighters record?
