Back in January we learned that longtime couple Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis were going thru a bit of a rocky point in their relationship. At the time, we learned that Johnny and Vanessa were separated, not yet broken up. Today, all these months later, we learn that attempts to save the relationship have failed … and that the couple have decided to split, for good. After 14 years and 2 children, the couple have announced today that they are officially dunzo.
It’s official: Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have split after 14 years together. The couple “have amicably separated,” Depp’s publicist said in a statement released to Entertainment Tonight Tuesday. “Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children.” As PEOPLE has reported, the two drifted into living separate lives after moving to Los Angeles from France. They haven’t appeared together on a red carpet in a year and, an insider told PEOPLE about their crumbling relationship, “It’s so sad.” The couple have two children together: Lily-Rose, 13, and Jack, 9.
Dang, this is sad news. When rumors of the couple’s troubles started going around, I was really hoping first that they were false … then, that the couple would eventually reconcile. A 14 year committed relationship is no joke so, yeah, this is bummer news. I honestly wasn’t aware that Johnny and Vanessa were having any difficulties, after all, they managed to keep their private lives very private. It’s really unfortunate that they couldn’t make their relationship work but, I guess we can’t say that they didn’t try. I wish them both the best and hope that this split won’t be too terribly upsetting for their children Lily-Rose and Jack. Blah … just, sad.
