The Rolling Stones May Be Prepping Secret 2012 Shows, Full 2013 Tour

RollingStones TW 3 2 10 The Rolling Stones May Be Prepping Secret 2012 Shows, Full 2013 Tour

Last year, we reported to you that the Rolling Stones were holding secret meetings to discuss a possible 50th anniversary tour and album for 2012.  Then…nothing.  Things on the Rolling Stones front have been relatively silent of late, with the exception of the odd Jagger appearance here or there.  But now, Rolling Stone reports that one of the longest running rock and roll bands in show business may finally be rumbling back to life.

Rumor has it that the band is still considering a tour in 2013, but are now also considering at least one concert in 2012 to mark their 50th anniversary.  Guitarist Keith Richards put it thusly: “I’d like to get a couple of shows down and see how it goes…But I’d love it.”

The Rolling Stones have already met once in 2012—in late April, the band joined together in New York for a week of rehearsals, their first time performing together since the final night of their A Bigger Bang tour in August of 2007.

In July, the band will be holding court in similar fashion in London, to continue discussing a possible live tour, as well as a follow-up album to their 2005 album, A Bigger Bang.  Again, according to Keith:  “It’s all very hush-hush…I’m going over to London for a bit, so I’ll find out more then…We’re going to talk about that in July and see.  I mean, I’d love to get some tracks down and see what songs we’ve got.  And that goes along with part of getting the band back together and getting things moving.  So I’d love to cut some tracks, yeah.”

So does 2013 herald a new Rolling Stones tour and album?  Will we see a concert or two in 2012?  Keep checking back in at BeatCrave to be sure.
