Earlier this month we got to see the first trailer for Quentin Tarantino‘s next bad-ass revenge flick, Django Unchained. Then last night during the BET Awards (recap coming soon!) I saw this new TV spot which has me even more excited about the film. The first trailer was good, but also had some critics feeling a bit skeptical. The idea of Quentin Tarantino making a ‘slave’ film is strange– even for him– so he’s got a lot to prove. This TV Spot has much of the original footage in it, but also some new stuff, like more Kerry Washington and a real good look at Samuel L. Jackson‘s character. Oh, and they’ve got Jay-Z‘s classic Blueprint 2 track playing in the background; perfect bad-ass revenge flick music. General awesomeness going down inside.
Django Unchained: New TV Spot
“I like the way you die, boy”?! LOL. Can we say ‘classic Tarantino‘? Yeah. Classic Tarantino. It goes without saying that I’m excited about this film, although it was very strange (and kind of hilarious) to hear Jamie Foxx compare it to Roots (the original and greatest ‘slavery’ film) at the BET Awards last night, but I won’t fault him for that until I actually see the film… and get confirmation that it is, in fact, nothing like Roots.
:)
Still, fun times in Tarantino-land! The cast is great and, although they’re still filming I hope that this one is everything us Tarantino fans hope it will be: bloody, bizarre, and brilliant. And I hope I can get over those Samuel L. Jackson eyebrows at some point today. Right now, they’re all I can think about. Thanks Sam.
