I have breaking news my faithful readers. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have reached a divorce settlement. Boy is it me or was that really freaking quick.
Although the soon to be ex-spouses were set to have to a court date in two weeks regarding their divorce, it has been confirmed that the two have reached a mutual agreement. This news comes about two weeks after Katie filed for divorce and requested sole custody of their daughter Suri.
Holems and Cruise released this statement about the divorce.
“We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri’s best interests. We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other’s commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other’s roles as parents.”
What does that mean exactly? Well it means that if you are looking for specific details about what exactly the former couple agreed to then you are so out of luck. People.com claims to have a source that is saying that Suri will live with Katie in New York while Tom will get generous visitation rights but again that has not been confirmed.
Along with the statement released from Katie and Tom, her lawyer had this to say on the subject.
“The case has been settled and the agreement has been signed. We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life. We thank Tom’s counsel for their professionalism and diligence that helped bring about this speedy resolution.”
Wow things sure seem to be tied up all nice and neat huh? I thought for sure this was going to be a nasty divorce, kind of makes you wonder what really happened doesn’t? I mean did perhaps Katie have leveraged against her husband or vice versa? Who knows but what we do know is they are getting divorced and so far it is going very smoothly.
