Despite what Noel Gallagher might say about never, ever reuniting Oasis (not even ‘if all the starving children in the world depended on it’, his brother Liam feels differently. The Beady Eye singer revealed that he was interested in reforming the band next year, just in time for 20th anniversary of their debut album Definitely Maybe.
Even though the Gallagher brothers aren’t on speaking terms, Liam mentioned that there’s some “unfinished business” with Oasis and that he would like to reunite the band. The singer to NME:
“There’s unfinished business there. People ask would I get Oasis back together. I’d do it for now, but if someone’s going to drop a load of fucking money, I’d do it for that too. I don’t think we’d ever make another record. I doubt we’ll ever get back together.”
Liam also mentioned that it would be great to get the band back together in time for the 20th anniversary of Definitely Maybe.
“If we do, it’d be nice to do that f***ing thing that’s coming up (the 20th anniversary) I’d be up for that. But I’d still go back to Beady Eye and Noel would go back to his thing. We could bury the hatchet for a quick lap of honour.”
Aw, if only Noel felt that way. Noel mentioned to NME in September of last year that he wasn’t too keen on reuniting since ‘nobody ever gave a shit about the fans in that band.’ But who knows, maybe Liam can get him to ‘bury the hatchet’ just this once.
