Survivor Philippines Episode 3 Recap

We begin our Survivor Philippines Episode 3 recap on Night 6 as the Matsing Tribe returns from another Tribal Council. They are now down to four members after voting out Roxy. Angie is glad she survived the night. Russell, on the other hand, is now worried that he may be next to go.

Day 7 and we join the Tandang Tribe as Abi and RC soak up some Sun on the beach. RC wants to go hunting for the idol, but Abi complains about her aching knee. RC is becoming frustrated with Abi, so she goes and hangs out with Michael. Abi sneaks away and meets with Peter, telling him all about the idol clue. She tells him that she wants to find the idol before RC does. Peter then goes and talks alliances with Lisa, plotting to boot Michael and RC first.

Over at Kalabawa Tribe, Jonathan complains about his aching butt. The rest of the tribe notices the emblem on the rice chest is missing and conclude that it must be the idol and Jonathan has it. They hope to blindside him before he can use it. Meanwhile, at Matsing Tribe, the dummies did not secure their raft and the tide carried it away during the night. Denise and Malcolm wonder who should get voted out next, Russell or Angie?

It is Day 8 and time for the Immunity Challenge. Players must dive, one at a time per tribe, to fetch 8 puzzle wheels, then solve the word puzzle. The first tribe to do this wins immunity and a reward of a canoe and a big box of fishing gear. The second tribe also gets immunity plus a smaller box of fishing tackle. As usual, the race is between Tandang and Kalabawa. Angie struggled with the first puzzle wheel, which was just two-feet under water. Russell was not much better, as he had a hard time traversing the three feet of ladder to get back on the starting platform. During his second try, Russell just plain quit. Angie did not even bother going out a second time, leaving Malcolm and Denise to get the remaining six wheels fro Matsing. It did not do them any good as Kalabawa finished first with Tandang right behind them.

So Kalabawa returns to camp and celebrates. Jonathan proposes an alliance with Jeff and tells him that he does indeed have the idol. At Tandang, Abi finds the idol and tells Peter. They are forming a new alliance with Artis and Lisa. But the real drama is at Matsing where the losers once again must go to Tribal Council. Denise and Malcolm just begin discussing who to vote off when Angie pops up and does her best to beg for clemency. Russell is alone and questions himself. Why does he suck so bad at Survivor?

At Tribal Council, the frustration of Matsing has turned into heart break. Angie and Russell both failed during the challenge. Angie tries to argue that she did not quit like Russell did, but he counters that she did, too. He goes on to say that Angie does not have what it takes to last another 30 days. Malcolm tries to defend Angie but it goes nowhere. Denise says that loyalty is now a crucial factor.

Its time to vote. We watch Angie and Russell trade votes against each other. When Jeff counts the ballots, the result is 3-1 against Angie. So ends our Survivor Philippines recap for this week. Spoilers for next week show Jeff and Jonathan forming their alliance while the Matsing Tribe continues to struggle during a challenge.
