According to a report by E! News, a lawsuit was filed by the Justice Department earlier this week against website operator Artist Arena for violating the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act.
Apparently, Artist Arena has been gathering personal information from 100,000 fans, under the age of 13, without the consent of their parents/guardians. That data could be used to create fake identities, putting all those kids at risk long before they could do anything about it.
At this time, the lawsuit is looking for $16,000 in damages for each violation.
